If you've seen the movie Serenity, loved it, and haven't checked out the series, Firefly, I highly recommend it because I guarantee you'll love it.

dude if its because u think the humor in serenity is misplaced, then u DEFinitely need to see the series, because it puts everything in perspective.

gotta warn the first ep of Firefly is long, cuz its one of those two hour premiers, my personal fave eps are Shindig and Out of Gas XD but that's me.
Watch Serenity first if you want, cuz it got a lot of ppl into the series and kind of gives u an overview of the firefly 'verse. ^_^

the only reason they made serenity was because after firefly was cancelled the fans made a huge upset about it. XD course the movie didnt make us stop or slow down one bit XD

Have to bump this thread because the other day I was at a New Years Eve party, and when I walked in, one of my friends (well acquaintance really, friend of a friend) was wearing a Jayne Cobb hat. Had to celebrate.
If you don't know who Jayne Cobb is, or what his hat looks like, or why said hat is so significant, it means you need to go out, rent Firefly, and watch it.
